Olive M. Adams Elementary School Reviews

This site has not been updated since the new principal has arrived. I fell the saftey of my children is very poor. The principal always says she will handle the problems, she pats the kids on the back, and say take a deep breath. My child is scared all the time. As for the teachers, they all try, I am sure it is hard to follow thruw with disipline when they know it will not go any further than the office.

Adams Elementary was changed to Adams Academy of Math, Science and Technology a few years ago and I beleive that the emphasis placed on Math and Science has really added to the school. Two of my children attend Adams and we feel that it is a great school. It is in a very safe area of Ypsilanti and the teachers go above and beyond the call of duty when teaching their students. Personally, I was hestitate to join the Ypsilanti Pblic School District when we moved to the area, but I am really glad that we made the choice to place our children at Adams.

This school is the best in the district, my children just love it at Adams.

I have always had a possitive experience at Adams. As a former student and the parent of three students who have gone to Adams we have been thrilled with the staff and have made great friends with them through out the years. I've seen great teachers retire and great teachers enter the teaching profession at Adams. I've always felt that my child was safe and been well taken care of. Great staff, learning experince great care has always been given to my children and myself.

My child's experience at Adams was positive. Parent involvement was encouraged by the top administration and teachers; I was asked to participate nearly every day. A small group has been attacking the school for years since shortly after a change in principals. Despite the problems this has caused, the school has maintained as warm and educational an atmosphere as was needed to prepare my child for middle school and beyond.

As a parent I have to say I have not had a good experience at Adams. Most teachers are impersonal and rude to both students and their parents. I have found most staff members ignore problems and think they will just go away instead of trying to resolve them. I am on this site now to find a new school for my daughter.

Staffing is mediocre...and driven by a political and social agenda rather than educational relevance. Top Administration destroys any possibility for improvement. Solid leadership is totally absent. Parent Teacher Meetings are adversarial gatherings and make the newspapers as major stories.
