Huron High School Reviews

My daughters are about to graduate from Huron and they've had the best experience, a quality education and excellent teachers. There was a safety issue last fall (2007) but the school acted quickly and the students involved were expelled and since then it's been quiet and safe. I recommend it.

Huron tends to be very stratified in terms of performance. There is a good deal of very high achievers that get accepted into top-10 universities and there are very many underperforming students that get ignored by faculty and administration. For those who are self motivated (or pushed by their parents), there are many opportunities at Huron- lots of AP classes (the math and science ones prepare students very well for the AP tests, the majority of students get 5's), chances to take college courses at UM, EMU or WCC, and online classes. The english and social studies departments are somewhat weak at the underclassman level, but the senior AP and Honors classes are much stronger. One thing to note, however, is that the new high school is opening next year, so many of Huron's teachers and students will be redistricted to the new school.

Both my son and daughter attended Huron. My daughter did well, but my son had a hard time. Huron is a good school for students who are already doing well. If a student is mediocre they fall through the cracks. I had to keep a constant check on what was going on with my son because I learned that if I didn't, no one else was going to lead him in the right direction.

I went to Huron HS and graduated in 2004. I absolutely loved it. Lots of classes to choose from, and so much diversity. That was the best part. It creates an open environment where all kinds of people are accepted. It was a great part of my educational experience.

Huron high school may be great for those high achievers. Huron can deal with students who get good grades and deal with hard problems. Huron does not know how to deal with kids who are struggling, bored or having difficulties with grades. Huron needs to work harder to treat everyone equally and keep track of their students. Right now, not really a school I would recommend to students who may have a struggle.

This is a terrific school for many students. There are caring teachers, a diversified student population, great athletics and lots of after school activities. If you have a bright kid; they will have a lot of bright, interesting peers with varied ethnic backgrounds. I am so glad my children were able to get this kind of high school experience,

Huron high has been an excellent educational ground for my two children . The school has competetion in their AP and accelerated classes ( plenty to choose from), teachers are helpful and the sports program is very good. This school is for high achievers and mature children. Students learn to think for themselves , get prepared for college life. They are not sheltered in an unrealistic world of private schools.

Great school. Excellent diversity. However a bit over-crowded.

I tend to disagree with the july and september reviews on Ann Arbor Huron. This a great school to attend. I am now a college student and I feel that this school prepared me for college very well. I was the varsity basketball captain last year and our coach mostly cared about our grades. Ann Arbor Huron is the best school to attend because it's well known for it's academics and for it's sports teams.

I tend to agree with the person who wrote in July 2004. Our oldest son attended Huron last year and we were very disappointed in everything except the sports programs! - They really care about those at Huron! However, we left the school and have moved to another district where we are much happier and so is our son!

This school is far too large and the administration have little care nor feeling towards the students. While the math department is national-caliber, the rest of the school is quite weak, especially the science department, which is plagued by incompenent teachers. Overall, the school has a highly ineffective principal and abysmal administration.
